Studio Family Photoshoot with the Hernandez Family
With over 13 years of experience photographing families and hundreds of happy clients, I’ve learned that the best photos come from filled with real cute moments and zero forced poses. That’s exactly what happened during this Orange County studio family photoshoot with the Hernandez family!
This sweet crew of five came into Spark Studios, Huntington Beach for a newborn family session that was full of energy, giggles, and plenty of snack breaks. With two toddlers and a newborn, things were anything but quiet, but that’s what made it so special!
Keeping Things Playful and Real
If you’ve ever tried to get toddlers to sit still for photos, you know how it goes. They’d rather explore, play, or snack and honestly, that’s exactly what I want during a studio family photoshoot!
My goal with the Hernandez family was simple: let the older siblings be themselves while capturing the real connection between everyone. During the newborn portraits, the boys got to take turns playing, reading books, or eating snacks while I worked. This kept them happy, gave them breaks, and helped me get those genuine smiles that make the whole gallery come alive!
The best photos were the ones that happened naturally with all the little laughs, the tight hugs, the moments in between the poses.
Why I Love Studio Family Sessions
There’s something timeless about a studio family photoshoot. You don’t have to worry about the weather, the lighting, or chasing toddlers through a field. Everything is calm, contained, and focused on your family’s connection.
At the studio in Huntington Beach, the light is soft, the space is cozy, and there’s plenty of room for kids to move around and be part of the experience. For newborn families especially, this setup takes the pressure off. You can settle in, feed the baby, take a break when needed privately, and still end up with beautiful, cohesive images that feel relaxed and natural.
The Hernandez family’s session was a perfect example of this! We didn’t need every moment to be “picture perfect.” Instead, the session flowed like playtime with lots of laughter, a few silly prompts (my go-to is always “What does mom’s nose smell like?”). Why Studio Sessions Are Worth It
If you’re on the fence about booking a studio family photoshoot, here are a few reasons why it’s so worth it:
- Controlled Environment: No worrying about wind, rain, or harsh sunlight. The lighting is always flattering and consistent.
- Comfort for the Whole Family: New moms can relax in a clean, private space, and kids can play safely between shots.
- Focus on Connection: Without outdoor distractions, it’s easier to slow down and capture the tender, intimate moments that really matter.
- Timeless Look: Studio photos never go out of style. The minimal backdrop keeps the focus where it should be—on your family.
Studio sessions give you the best of both worlds: a calm, beautiful space that still feels natural and full of life.
A Sweet Note from Mom
After seeing her gallery, Mom sent me the sweetest message:
“Jenna. These are STUNNING. There are so many in here that just the ONE photo is worth the price alone. You captured so many moments. Absolutely beautiful candid shots of the boys, and us. That’s what I was hoping for and why we went with you. You are very talented.”
Reading messages like this reminds me why I love photographing families. The chaos, the giggles, the imperfect moments and they all tell your story.
